The movie premieres today (September 12, 2020) and stars Bette Midler, Sarah Paulson, Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Levy, and Issa Rae. Depicting the COVID-19 pandemic as its central theme, each star is seen talking into a camera similar to a Zoom meeting. Judging by the trailer, Coastal Elites is both creative and topical. Because Stuart Sweet runs our California operations center, I’ve referred to him as a “coastal elitist.” All joking aside, HBO’s Coastal Elites takes a hilarious look at people who fit this general description. The term “coastal elite” is used to describe intellectual, economically-advantaged people who live in coastal areas of the US, primarily New York City and California.
